Another Printable!!

Well I guess once I get started with something, I don't stop.  I just hope I do not "over-do" the printables.

I went back to The Blooming Homestead for another fall printable, broke out the last of my dollar tree frames

Unfortunately the dry brushing did not go as well.  This frame was so porous that the paint dried almost immediately and did not blend well.  So I will probably repaint it in the near future.  The way it is now looks a little patchy.  But the printable is gorgeous!!

Pictures totally do not do justice!!!  You should go to The Blooming Homestead and check out the real image.  There is subtle sheet music behind the wording.  Blotchy frame and all it makes me happy.

So again thanks to all the talented people that take the time to make and share these!

My first printables

I - the non-shopper - have actually spent a good deal of free time this week getting ready for Christmas.  Possibly the earliest ever!!  I do not enjoy shopping as I may have stated a few hundred times, but my girls have been really good about going with me and motivating me this year.  So that is my excuse for not posting much this week.

Tonight after supper before my little "Potter Heads", as we like to tease them, were off to wait in line for the midnight release of Harry Potter, the oldest and I sat down for some mommy crafty time.  Gotta' love it!!

I found some really cute printables atThe Blooming Homestead.  They are super cute.  You can also find awesome free printables at Creative Kristi's blog.  So I printed out 2 copies of her leaf printable and broke out a couple of Dollar Tree frames, some paint, and some dry brushes

The frames were not very autumny.  Just plain black and plain brown.  After about 20 minutes oldest daughter had made this for her house

And I made this for our house

I must say that I did not understand all the printable craze going around blogland.  Uhm... now I may have a new addiction! Love it!!

And thank you to those of you who know how to make these incredible printables and share them for free!!

31 Days ... Day 20

Wow - 20 days down.  Have you been keeping track of the 31 dayers?  Inspirational stuff out there!!  It is easy to lose track of time reading all the incredible blogs involved.

You may have remembered me mentioning my friend Miss Bev.  I spend every other Thursday with her after work.  Unfortunately she now lives about an hour away, so it takes away some of our visiting time.  At least we generally get all her errands run.

I finally managed to get a picture of the 2 of us today.  We went out to lunch to celebrate her 88th birthday.  And you will never guess what she wanted for her birthday - a harmonica.  Too fun!!!  She and her "group" - the Harmoni-cats - have a "gig" on the 28th and she wanted a new shiny harmonica.  Oh and by the way, she is the next to youngest in the Harmoni-cats.  So needless to say - we went and got her a new shiny harmonica.  And I received a harmonica education.  There are many, many harmonicas.  The store we went to had over 100!!  Oh and by the way - they can get a little pricey.  Yowza!! But we had a great time and she serenaded me the whole ride back to the home.

Between my visit with Bev and birthday shopping, I did not have much time for a project.  But I did manage to get one 3/4 of the way done.

A while back I saw the cutest fall pillows at a little cafe a friend and I were eating at.  They were canvas or duck cloth with felt leaves.  The leaves were stitched on with lopsided stitches in different sizes.  So I decided that I could do that.  I bought extra burlap and some felt.  After the banner and the pillows, the joy has gone from working with burlap.  I lined the burlap with dark green and pumpkin orange material since the burlap is rather see through and covered 2 outdoor pillow forms.  I cut out 2 leaf shapes for each pillow and got them stitched on to one pillow.  How is that seeing someone else's lopsided stitches looks so cute and mine just look like lopsided stitches?  Oh well - they will look cute on the front porch once I am done

So tomorrow all I have to do is add leaves to one more pillow and stitch on some ties to tie them to the porch chairs - and that will be one more project down.  Woo hoo!!

So until tomorrow

31 Days... Day 19

We are on a roll!!  I love clearing all this stuff out!!  Woo hoo.  Back when I bought all the stuff to make my fall topiaries I also bought enough to make 2 more with the promises that Mrs. J and I would get together and spend the time with just the 2 of us crafting.  We finally nailed down the time today and made one for her and one for my oldest daughter ....  shhhhh, don't tell her - it's a surprise!!

We had such a good time crafting together!!!  And not to mention that my craft room is much happier!!  Do you have any idea how much room 12 faux pumpkins take up!  Yowza.  Mrs J. really seemed pleased with hers which makes me happy - since it was my idea!

We also made her a gorgeous fall wreath - but  I totally forgot to take a pic of it before she left.  I guess that means I will need to make a run to her house for tea and a picture!!

So until tomorrow

Happy Fall Ya'll!!

Well ok - not really.  I had this idea that even though it is still over 100 degrees that if I worked on a fall craft it would make me feel cooler.  Guess what - I still feel like it is over 100 degrees!!  But at least I have a cute little wreath.

I actually went shopping Thursday - pick yourself up, I really did.  I decided after seeing so many incredibly cute porches on blogland that I will decorate mine for fall this year.  And more than one carved pumpkin!  So off I go on my merry way.  And guess what - even though every store that I went to had tons of Christmas on the aisles, all of them said that they had not put out much of their fall yet.  Really??!!??  I - the non-shopper  - make the effort to actually spend the time shopping and I can't.  I was able to pick up enough items at the dollar tree to make a wreath.

So here is what I did while paint was drying - literally - on the stairs

It is an 18 inch wreath form from the Dollar Tree and all the picks except the sunflowers came from Dollar tree, too.  The feathers are left overs.  I disected all the picks and glued them in.  So easy - and only cost about $11 for the wreath.  Woo hoo - I guess score one for ht enon-shopper

Now - if we could just get some cooler weather so I can put this on my door!!

Happy DIY'ing!!
